A sleeping pad is a great addition to a comfortable sleep while camping outdoors. If you are camping in cold weather then the sleeping bag is just not enough. Here in this article, we will do Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping Pad Review.
One of the disadvantages of a sleeping bag is that it exposes your back because your body weight squeezes the air out. A sleeping bag uses the air to provide insulation but if the air is squeezed out then there is no insulation. To negate this a sleeping pad is used by most campers, backpackers even hammock campers.
But there is a plenty of options available online in different shapes and sizes, so which one to choose? We are recommending the Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping pad which we bought and tested for two seasons now.
Here is our review of the Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping pad.
Table of Contents
Size and Shape
The Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping pad is 72 inches(length) x 23 inches(width) x 2.5 inches (thick). It is big enough to support a person of normal height and weight. The 2.5 inches thickness is also good enough for comfort and insulation. We have used this on rocky, icy, and wet terrains and it has provided us with comfortable sleep every time. The best part of this pad is that it packs a really small 5 inches x 8 inches ( about the size of a coffee mug). It weighs only 24 ounces which is suitable for ultralight backpackers or hikers.
Design
The first thing we loved about it is the design and pattern of the inflated air pockets. The innovative V-shaped design provides support and comfort for all types of sleeping positions like sleeping on the sides, back, and stomach. One of the biggest problems in using a sleeping pad is that they slide off thus your sides are exposed. You wake up cold at night which can be frustrating, but not with Klymit insulated Sleeping pad. Its side rail design is there to keep you centered while sleeping so you don’t end up feeling cold at night.
Material
This 4-season insulated sleeping pad comes with an R-value of 4.4. The outer and inside of this pad are made from durable 75D polyester fabric. 75 denier fabric has a high abrasion resistance which makes it really durable. You can easily inflate and deflate this pad. It takes around 12-13 breaths to inflate it fully.
Insulation
The air pockets are designed in such a way that they will keep you warm all night long. The deep pockets are welded so perfectly that they keep the air moving while you change position while sleeping. The V-shaped air pockets are designed to keep the areas warm like the shoulder and hips where maximum pressure is exerted while you are sleeping.
Cost
It costs less than $70 which is very competitive. It is a real value-for-money product. It comes with a stuff sack to pack it and a patch kit in case you need some fixes for the sleeping pad.
Conclusion
Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping Pad is a good sleeping pad at a good price. It is incredibly lightweight, warm, and easy to inflatable and deflated but it’s not durable as we want. It is available in one size only which can create problems for tall people. We recommend you this sleeping pad for those customers who want to warm sleep at a good price.
